Match week: rugby at home, Test cricket on the horizon

Saturday at DHL Stadium

The DHL Stormers play their first home fixture of the 2026–27 Vodacom United Rugby Championship on Saturday 10 October, hosting the Hollywoodbets Sharks at DHL Stadium. Kick-off is at 16:00, according to the Stormers ticket hub and the Sharks match centre. After opening the season with away fixtures against Connacht and Edinburgh, the Stormers return to Cape Town for a South African derby, so expect a lively late afternoon around Green Point and the V&A Waterfront.

Arriving and leaving well

On recent match days the stadium precinct has operated road closures around Green Point and a designated drop-off area on Helen Suzman Boulevard, as set out in the club's match-day guides. Arrangements can change from fixture to fixture, so check the club's guidance for this match before you travel.

Making a day of it

A 16:00 kick-off leaves Saturday morning free. A late breakfast in Sea Point, or an unhurried drive along the Atlantic Seaboard to Camps Bay, sets the tone, and the stadium sits only minutes from the V&A Waterfront for an early dinner once the crowds have thinned. Spring evenings in the stands can turn cool, so a light jacket is worth bringing.

Test cricket returns

The Proteas begin a three-Test series against Australia at Kingsmead in Durban from 9 to 13 October, as confirmed by the ICC. The second Test follows at St George's Park in Gqeberha from 18 October, and the series concludes at Newlands in Cape Town from 27 to 31 October. For visitors following the series, the Newlands Test is a natural anchor for a late-October stay, with the Winelands and the Peninsula close at hand.
